Beware the welfare market: The case against Silicon Valley's techno-libertarian UBI.

Jul 15 2017
If the only thing that changes is the distribution of benefits to people, while capitalism is intact - it has the potential to be disastrous. So many businesses can easily take advantage of this and strip people not only of their livable wages, if they even have them in the first place, but of their ability to afford fundamental services.

Journalists Julianne Tveten and Paul Blest explore the dark side of Silicon Valley's UBI business plan - as a capitalist innovation being sold by technocrats to liberals, a libertarian class project to further strip the state of responsibility to provide social programs, and a tech industry attempt to consolidate political and economic power.

Julianne and Paul wrote the article Silicon Valley Will Not Save You for Current Affairs.
