Neofeudalism and the New Class Struggle / Jodi Dean

1919.

Capitalism is mortal. It’s not immortal. It won’t last forever and the question always gonna be which of its contradictions will ultimately bring it down. And also what does bringing it down look like. You know there’s some hope among marxists that capitalism will go down in somehow go out in a violent revolution that would spread all over the world and would bring into power communist governments who would then coordinate with one another. Other versions well would be that capitalism is gonna to go out thru democratic parties. As social democratic parties kind of came to power and then passed various kinds of laws and provisions that would be increasingly in the interest of the people. Neither of those have been true so far. But it is the case that capitalism continues to change and morph. So another vision of its destruction and transformation are that it kills itself and becomes something worse.

Academic and author Jodi Dean returns to This Is Hell! to talk about her new book, "Capital's Grave: Neofeudalism and the New Class Struggle" published by Verso Books.
