Trans rights are human rights 52724739499

The very existence of transgender people undermines the idea that there's this naturally existing gender hierarchy. But what I want to really have everyone understand is that the attack on transgender people, the way it's done in terms of the definition of sex that every agency in the federal government has to use is actually a way to kind of eviscerate the administrative state—the part of the state that is supposed to attend to the health and the wellbeing of the population and try to figure out how to make people live healthier lives.

Paisley Currah joins us to discuss his New Yorker piece, "Donald Trump's War on Gender Is Also a War on Government." "Rotten History" by Renaldo Migaldi follows the interview.
